  2. SIR WILLOUGHBY NORRIE TAKES OFFICE AS GOVERNOR OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA

    After spending two nights in the train between Sydney and Adelaide, the new Governor of South Australia (Sir Willoughby Norrie), Lady Norrie, with their family and members of the staff, reached Adelaide on Tuesday morning. Within two hours of his arrival, the new Governor had been sworn-in at the customary ceremony in the Town Hall, and had attended his first meeting of the Executive Council. His Excellency is looking forward to meeting all classes of people in South Australia, and particularly the agricultural and pastoral sections. He himself farms 500 acres in Gloucestershire, but modestly regards himself as "an amateur." Sir Willoughby intends to make a tour of the State as soon as he has settled in. In a message to the people of South Australia, His Excellency said:—"I regard my appointment as a great honour. I am looking forward very much to my tenure of office in your State, and to the opportunity of making many new friends. This feeling is shared by my wife and family."
