  2. Queen At Mount Gambier

    FRIDAY was a great day for Mount Gambier, which had the honor of being the first South Australian town to greet the Queen. About 50,000 residents of the South-East and nearby districts in Victoria gave the Royal couple a great welcome. TOP—Left to right ore the Mayor (Mr. J. H. Marks), Mrs. Marks, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Soon after this photograph was taken the Royal visitors returned to the airport and left for Hamilton, in Victoria. CENTRE—Children were well to the fore in this picture showing delighted spectators at the Mount Gambia airport when the Royal party arrived. BOTTOM—Members of the Naracoorte sub-branch of the R.S.L. were among the many cheerful groups to meet the Royal party. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
