    OFFERED TO THE ADELAIDE CITY COUNCIL. Theberton Hall and estate, in Suffolk, England, the home of Colonel Light (the founder of Adelaide), when a boy, have been offered to the Corporation of the City of Adelaide by Mrs. Doughty-Wylle, daughter-in-law of Mr. George Doughty, who was High Sheriff of Suffolk, when Captain Francis Light placed his son, William Light, in his care. Mrs. Doughty-Wylie suggested that the hall should be used as the residence of the High Commissioner for Australia in England. The Lord Mayor (Mr. Lavington Bonython) announced at the meeting of the City Council on Monday that he had communicated this generous offer to the Prime Minister (Mr. Bruce), who regretted that the Commonwealth Government were unable to accept the building for the purpose desired.
