Detachment of the Royal Australian Artillery from Victoria and Western Australia marching in the military section of the pageant This section represented troops various periods from the foundation of South Australia in 1836 to the present day. There was a section from the British army in uniforms of 1840-1860, another of British troops in the dress of 1860-1870, and several representations of South Australian volunteers in uniforms covering the period 1866 until the absorption of the local militia by the Commonwealth.
