Admiral Sir Cyprian Bridge, who has relinquished the command of the British naval station in China, interviewed at Yokohama, said that the chief lessons of the war were the success of destroyers and the heavy guns. The Chernulpho action was fough* at a range of 7400 yards, proving the value of heavy guns, and minimising the efficiency of secondary batteries.
