On the left, the Belgian four-masted barque L'Avenir (2,738 tons), which is being fitted to carry passengers to Australia round the Horn. Centre, the Finnish barque Herzogin Cecilie (2,584 tons), which has recently arrived at Falmouth, Cornwall, from Port Augusta (S.A.), in 106 days round the Horn. On the right, the Black Ball lilne clipper ship James Baines (2,096 tons), sister ship to the Lightning, the fastest and finest vessels afloat in their day.
