The above Map shows both the Proposed Transcontinental Railway and the Coast Railway as submitted to Parliament by the Government, and the reports of the Commissioner for Railways (Mr. J. F. Thallon), and Mr. O. L. Amos, surveyor, who examined the route of the Transcontinental Railway, which are given on the next page, describe the proposals in detail. Existing Railways are shown by straight lines and the proposed railways by dotted lines. The boundaries of the Benefited Areas are marked by serrated or waved lines. The Areas are distinguished by the letters A, B, C, and D in the case of the Transcontinental Railway, and A, B, C, D[?]and ... [ILLUSTRATED]
