  7. ON THE ADELAIDE PERTH AIR ROUTE.

    The Minister for Defence announced yesterday that a five years' contract had been given to Western Australian Airways, Limited, for a mail and passenger, service between Adelaide and Perth. These are to be similar to those now employed on the London to Paris and Cairo to Basra journeys, being known as the Hercules, and having three British 450 h.p. Jupiter engines. The planes are constructed by the Do Eavilland Company, and each, when fully loaded, weighs 14,700 ft. The top speed is 125 miles an hour, and although all passengers can be carried, usually about seven arc accommodated, in addition to mail and commercial packages.
