    When the Shrine of Remembrance is complete it will be readily visible from all parts of Swanston street in the city area. Already the massive foundations and the crane which surmounts them may be seen from the city. This illustration is of the Shrine as it appears framed by the buildings of Swanston street. The photograph was taken with a 40in. (telescopic) lens, from the top of a building in Victoria street looking south down Swanston street. Loss of perspective, which goes with the great magnification the lens gives, has foreshortened the street until the picture almost appears distorted. On the left the trees at the Public Library may be seen, with the brickwork of the Melbourne Hospital next to them.
