Not only are they published in an Australian newspaper 15 days after they were taken in England, but they were carried by Wing-Commander Kingsford Smith on his record-breaking flight. Thus the famous aviator brought his own pictures to Australia. Taken at Heston Park, the night before the departure, they were rushed to London and developed and handed to Kingsford Smith when he left at 5.20 a.m. on October 9. On arrival at Darwin, the photographs were handed over to Capt. F. W. Haig, of Vacuum Oil Company, who left Darwin on Monday, and arrived here yesterday. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
