Michael in The Illustrated London News, shows one variety of the "fraternising" between the rival armies which has been forbidden by the Berlin military authorities. In places the trenches are not more than 20 yards apart, and during lulls in the fighting much friendly feeling has been exhibited between some of the rival forces.
