The battle took place early in March, and was of a most desperate nature. The victory was made possible only by the massing of 350 guns, which spoke at once, on a front of barely 3.000 yards. Our picture show the ruins of the village of Neuve Chapelle after the terrible bombardment, and gives a wonderful idea of the havoc wrought by modern artillery.
