  4. REMARKABLE FALL IN STEEPLECHASE AT WILLIAMSTOWN.

    One of the most remarkable incidents ever seen on a racecourse took place in the Autumn Stceplechase at Williamstown on Saturday Governor Gay was leading the field in the early stagas, but just before reaching the third fence heo ran off the course; St. Roseland became confused, and endeavoured to follow Governor Gay, but was then so close to the fenco that the way off the course was barred by the wing, which the horse tried to Jump. The photograph shows St. Roseland falling over the wing, while the field, headed by Shaolta, cleared the-fence. Epergne, the winner, is lying second, and the other horse shown is King High. ...     One of the oldest building, in the business part of the city is shortly to be pulled down to make room for larger premises. It stands next to Auditorium, and has been occupied for 25 years by "Dargo," photographor. This building and the one next to it were standing bofore 1853, and in tho above reproduction of an old lithograph of Collins street, they are seen on the extreme left.
