  14. IMPROVING THE WATER SERVICE TO EASTERN SUBURBS.

    Although the water supply of Melbourne is sufficient to meet requirements for many years, the pressure in many suburbs is poor owing to the lack of large mains. The Metropolitan Board of Works is constructing large mains to tap the resources of the various water systems, and it is now engaged on the construction of a 46-inch main pipe line from Mount Evelyn to the service reservoir at Mitcham.
