    Well-known in Australian waters and a frequent winner of the annual grain race to England, the 3111-ton Finnish barque, Herzogin Cecile, the world's largest sailing ship, went ashore at Salcombe, Devon, England, in a fog on her last trip from Australia. She was the first of the grain ships to reach Falmouth, and was on her way along the coast to Ipswich to discharge when the catastrophe occurred. Hope of saving the vessel has been abandoned, but her captain has made an appeal in England for funds for an attempt at salvage. These pictures, the first to reach Australia, show the vessel fast on the rocks and (right) the crew receiving hot tea after being brought ashore by the Salcombe lifeboat. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
