  2. RUNAWAY TRAM WRECKS BANK PREMISES

    Shortly after 7 o'clock on Thursday evening an unattended bogey car started off down Hay-street bill from Harvest-terrace towards Milligan-street. By the time the corner was reached the tram had gathered tremendous momentum and, leaving the rails, dashed into the E.S. and A. Bank branch premises on the corner. The flashlight photograph reproduced above was taken shortly after the car had been withdrawn from the building, and clearly shows the extent of the damage to both tram and bank. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
