  2. QUEENS GARDENS PERTH

    One of the most delightful reserves under control of the Perth City Council (of which there are fifty scattered throughout the city), is Queen's Gardens, of an area of over eight acres, in Hay-street East. Originally the site of the Perth brickyards, the gardens were laid out about thirty-three years ago by the Council. A wonderful transformation has been effected by converting the old clay pits into lily ponds, laying down lawns and planting shrubs and flowers. A statue of Peter Pan. a replica of the famous statue in Kensington Gardens, London, was placed in the gardens last year. Inset is a glimpse of some of the beautiful water lilies. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
