(2) Putting on the Clay: The wooden "armature" is shellacked and then plastered with clay, as a base on which the sculptor builds the true form. (3) When the clay is all on the pentagraph is used to get the true points of the original small wooden pegs marking the exact outline. (4) After Weeks of Work: The figure in clay is a perfect replica of the small model. The figure is exactly as it will appear on the monument except that it is of clay instead of bronze. (5) Preparing for the Casings: Thin strips of brass are inserted to form the necessary divisions to make a plaster mould. Then the replica is entirely sprayed with plaster.
