    In a recent interview with a representative of the "Sydney Morning Herald," the W.A. Premier said:—"The State steamers were introduced to break up the mea[?] combine. We have four retail butchering establishments in the metropolitan area, where the people purchase their meat over the counter. We have succeeded in giving the people cheaper meat, making an all-round reduction. We have had a State sawmill going for some time, and have now established three others in the karri forests. We have also made a start with State brickyards, but they are not producing vet.
