    Werenda held command at the entrance to the straight from Keer Weer, New Tipperary, The Trigger, Lile Lass, Artesian, Cocatea, Maori Lad, Cumballo, and Chief Secretary, the last two being West Park and Florabel. The positions were practically unchanged as they passed the stand, and the order out of the straight was Werenda, New Tipperary, Keer Weer, The Trigger, Cocatea, Artesian (on thc rails), Chief Secretary and Maori Lad, the others being well bunched with Florabel still in the rear.   3. ARTESIAN (ON THE OUTSIDE) WINNING THE PERTH CUP FROM LILYVEIL AND KEER WEER. C. E. Farr.

    Lilyveil led Artesian into the straight, the leading positions amongst the others being filled by New Tipperary Keer Weer, Murella, and Lile Lass. The two leaders then settled down to a great finish and Artesian headed Lilyveil inside the distance and holding his own, the favourite won by three-quarters of a length, with Keer Weer in third place several lengths away. New Tipperary was close up fourth, Murella was fifth, Camballo sixth, Lile Lass seventh and Maori Lad eighth. Then came Orient Queen, Cocatea, James the Third, Sparkle, West Park, Swagger, Werenda, Chief Secretary, The Trigger, and Florabel last. THE W.A.T.C. CARNIVAL. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
