The two leaders then settled down to a great finish and Artesian headed Lilyveil inside the distance and holding his own, the favourite won by three-quarters of a length, with Keer Weer in third place several lengths away. New Tipperary was close up fourth, Murella was fifth, Camballo sixth, Lile Lass seventh and Maori Lad eighth.
