  2. THE FIRE AT THE GREAT BOULDER PERSEVERANCE MINE.

    The fire has involved the loss of between £40.000 and £50.000 and the [?]ssation of gold production for six or seven months. The blaze was first seen in the big mill engine-room, where the motive power and air-compressor plants are housed, and, fanned by a strong wind, it quickly spreal to the [?]bins, and G[?] mills. Before its progress co[?] be arrested practically the whole of the erushing portion of the plant had been destroyed or ruined. As it was, about one-third of one of the biggest and best-equipped mills on the field was sestroyed in the space of half an hour.
