The State Schools' Amateur Athletic Association may feel justly proud of the success which attended the annual demonstrations which took place on Friday and Saturday last. On Saturday over 10,000 people were present to witness the displays, which were carried out without the slightest hitch. No one could fail to admire the little ones as they went through their various performances, and many doubtless would have loved to be a child again, to participate in the pleasure the youngsters were experiencing. His Excellency the Governor (Sir Gerald Strickland), who was present, was much impressed with the sound physique, healthy appearance, marked intelligence, and amenability to discipline of the children, and in expressing his delight to the officials Sir Gerald remarked that he had noticed that Australian children showed a much higher intelligence than English children of the same ago and condition. The displays were in charge of Mr. R. Reilly, who has a genius for marshalling bodies of children and training them in picturesque and healthful exercises. Mr. Richard Hand, as secretary, deserves praise for his able conduct of the affairs generally, and his unflagging energy in attention to details. In refereeing the whole of the race Mr. H. J.
