    THE SOUND OF STEALTHY FOOTSTEPS IN THE FRONT OFFICE brought Mr. F. H. Smithers, manager of the Moreland branch of the Bank of N.S.W., quickly front his room yesterday morning. Behind the counter, crouched over a bag of money, was a man, who, on the command "Hands up!" sprang to his feet and begged for mercy.
