    'By high summer, the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force had grown from five to eight divisions and five more British divisions (3 Kitchener Army and 2 Territorial) were about to arrive, bringing the total strength to 13 divisions. The Turks had 16 divisions of slightly smaller strength. This increased allied strength was to be applied to regain the initiative, break the stalemate and deliver victory.
