    THE STORY SO FAR.—Alan Dundas, a young vinegrower, discovers a mysterious metal structure underground while digging a water-hole on his property. In this structure is a great door which resists all efforts to open it. Hidden in the wall beside the door he finds a recess containing four small metal knobs. Touching one he is thrown violently to the ground. The knobs an charged with a tremendous voltage of electricity. Bruised, but otherwise unhurt, he succeeds insulating the knobs and endeavours to find the reasons for them. Alan stumbles on the combination and the door opens.
