  7. THEBARTON TOWN HALL.

    THE HENLEY BEACH-ROAD FRONTAGE. At a special meeting of the Thebarton Town Council on Thursday, 10 tenders were received for building a new town hall, and that of Mr. E. Colgate, of Woodvllle, at £23,200, was accepted. ' This tender does not indade the famishing of the building, which Is expected to cast between £5,000 and £6,000 extra. The council has secured a loan of £30,000, and it is expected that the whole of the work will be carried out for this amount, and completed in: approximately 12 months. Mr: Colgate is a wellknown contractor, and among other large contracts carried out by him are the Woodville Town Hall, Grandstand at Cheltenham Racecourse, Largs Bay School, Gawler High School, Narracoorte School and Institute Hall, Kadina Picture Theatre. Teh applications were also received for the position of supervisor. The successful applicant was Mr. E. F. Choate, architectural draftsman and designer, of Roebuck-street, Mile-End. The buildings inetade the town hall with five shops in front, facing Henley Beach-road, a supper-room, which can be used for dancing, and the council chambers. The supper-room and office block will face Taylor's-road. The hall will be provided with seating accommodation in the stalls for 1,150, and in the dress circle for 800. The stags will accommodate 300 children. The supper-room, which measures 61 by 48 feet, will seat 350. The town hall will be used as a picture theatre by D. Clifford Theatres Ltd., and it is expected that the hire of this, the rent from the shops, and the hire of the sapper-room for dance parties will be sufficient to provide repayments on the £30,000 loan.
