    HAWAII: Battleships of the United States Navy at anchor in Pearl Harbor, near Honolulu (Hawaii). Pearl Harbor, 2400 miles south-west of San Francisco, is the most powerful U.S. naval base in the Pacific. It is here that the Japanese are reported to have sunk the battleship West Virginia (31,800 tons) and set on fire the battleship Oklahoma (29,000 tons) and four other U.S. warships.
