ON Thursday, May 31, 1928, at 8.54 a.m. (California time), the "Southern Cross," commanded by Captain C. Kingsford-Smith and Mr. C. T. P. Ulm, with Captain H. Lyon as navigator, and Jim Warner as wireless operator, left Oakland, California, bound for Brisbane via Honolulu and Suva.
