    A conference convened by the Australian Dairy Produce Inter-State Committee was held at Coruki on Friday. Two sections of the committee, Queens laud and New South Wales, were represented, the former by Mr. J. Purcell (Chairman of the Queensland Butler Board) and Mr. C. Sliecby (secretury Q.B.B.). Mr. P. Giant (President of the P.P.U.), Mr. C. E. D. Meares (General Manager of the P.D.S. ) and Mr. C. Grucoll. (Prescott’s Ltd.) represented New South Wales. Other representatives were:—Mr. G Scarle (Manager of Warwick Buttet Factory, Qld.), Mr. R. H. Clark (Chairman Tenterfield Butter Factory Board of Directors, Mr. C. H. Laing (m e ager Tenterfield Butter Factory), Mr J. A. Hansen (Chairman Killarncy Butter Factory Board of Directory, and Mr. P. L. Patterson (Manager of the Killarncy Factory), Messrs Mark Yabsley, J.     Tweed Shire Council at its meeting on Thursday failed to respond [?]quest for support in a movement for the dissolution of the Parliaments of the Commonwealth and N.S.W. With the under-signatures of Messrs D. A. McRoss, Mayor of Lis[?]; A. Cameron, president Gundarimba Shire; S. W. Hodge, president Lismore Chamber of Commerce; and F. H. Bartlett, president Richmond District Council, Primary Producers Union, the communication advised that at a meeting of 700 people in Richmond Hall. Lismore, the following resolution had been carried: “That, as both the Federal and State Governments continue to ignore in their legislation the wishes of the country people, as expressed by the people and their direct representatives in Parliament, this meeting, calls on all town and shire councils to convene meetings to have a petition signed and addressed to the Governor General of Australia and the Governor of N.S.W. to use their prerogatives and dissolve the present Parliaments. The word “banana” is derived through Spanish or Portuguese front native Guinea, and its definition is given as “a large elongated berry, growing in clusters, very nutritious. And such is the fume of the Australian banana that the soubriquet “Banana-land” for Queensland is acknowledged. Some enterprising local grower, however, might well despatch a few samples of his fruit to Webster’s lexicographer, who advises that the banana is “a fruit five or six inches long.” ...
