    GROUP OF YOUNG LIONS This excellent photograph of a group of young lions in their native state in the wilds of Kenya, forms the fifth of the series of fine animal studies being published In "The Advertiser." Like the others, it was taken by Colonel Marcos Well Maxwell IMPROVEMENTS TO THE TORRENS LAKE The Adelaide City Council in order to provide work for the unemployed, has for some months been regrading the northern bank of the Torrens Lake. At present the portion between Monte fiore-road and the weir is being reconstructed. The photographs show— (1) Regrading the bank. (2) Ploughing. Preparatory to scooping. Horn burg) recently suggested to the Mitcham District Council that this splendid gum tree, on the road at the back of the Wa[?] Institute, might be preserved by making the road on either side of it. The council has decided to accede to his request and retain the tree. This, the Minister considers, is an example of what other local governing bodies might do to preserve the frees [?] on the highways, and so enhance the beauty of the landscape. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
