The great "high" has surged southward, and brought with it the monsoonal conditions which are manifest in the extensive cloud development in Queensland and New South Wales, as also in light to heavy rainfall, with halt, in the central and Darling Downs divisions of Queensland, and light at scattered places south from Cooktown. Light to heavy rain, with thunder, is also reported from the Northern Territory. To the eastward of the depression is a narrow ridge of high pressure that is over eastern coastal parts. This ridge has become more acute since yesterday, and during Thursday night and this morning, as lt cooperated with the Antarctic disturbance over the Tasman Sea. caused fresh and squally south-east winds and light to moderate rain on parts of our coast. The depression over West Australia is still in evidence, and clouds and showers have occurred in western parts of that State. The Antarctic disturbance over the Dominion yesterday has since then gained considerably in energy, and now has three isobars, the centre being over the South Island. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
