THE fascination of Moreton Bay rests in its many islands. The bay is actually formed by three large islands, Bribie, Moreton and Stradbroke, but within its vast areas dozens of smaller ones are to be found. Most southern Queenslanders know of the larger islands, but in the southern end are to be found the smaller groups, many being of rich soil and others just mangrove banks. Separated by tortuous channels, each has its own charm and provides much of the ABOVE: From the pier at McLeay Island, the tip of the island is shown at left.
