    THE STORY SO FAR.—Alan Dundas, a young vinegrower, discovers a mysterious underground structure on his property. Gaining access, he descends a staircase 160 feet deep. On the way he is confronted with and avoids deadly traps. He reaches a vast circular chamber dominated by a pointing statue. The hall is lighted from six great translucent doors. Again he nearly loses his life by a trap. The door towards which the figure points opens at his approach, and reveals a great gallery of artistic marvels. Other galleries are discovered.
