This interesting series of photographs was taken by that adventurous young South Australian Mr. George Herbert Wilkins, who became connected with the Stefanoson Canadian Antartic Expedition, under the direction of the Naval Service Department of Canada as journalistic photographer, and after a stay of three years in the north polar regions, returned as second in command. Our composite shows:—1. V. Stefa nsson, the commander of the Canadian Arctic Expedition, 1913-1917. 2. Mr. Wilkins and an Esquinaux companion setting out on a 500-mile trail with a dog train. 3. Mr. G. H. Wilkins second in command. 4. This photograph shows that the country is not void of vegetation or insect life.
