  2. HELPING THE HELPLESS.

    The picturesque surroundings of the Austral Gardens, North Terrace, made an appropriate setting for the fete and continental held on Saturday, October 14, in aid of Minda Home. There was a gratifying attendance of patrons, whose movements were confined principally to the Palais de Danse, where the stalls were located. The interior of the building, lavishly bedecked with bunting and floral decorations, looked a veritable fairyland, and the ceaseless efforts of an army of fair attendants yielded encouraging business results. Lady Galway, who was received by Lady Butler and Lady Symon, declared the fete open. Our photographs show:—Nos. 1 and 3, groups of helpers; and 2, Fortune tellers. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
