    These pictures illustrate the production of sugar from the canefield to the finished article (see letterpress, page 11). 1. A field of fine Queensland sugarcane, 12 ft. high. 2. As the cane is hauled in from the field it is "weighed in," and passes on to the mill for crushing. 3. A steamer discharging 65,000 bags (nearly 5,000 tons) of sugar at a refinery. 4. A train load of sugar leaving the mill for the steamer. Note the smoke stack on the engine. Every precaution must be taken to avoid setting fire to the canefields. 5.
