    THOUGH we should not he too ready to believe all we hear about the German people being half-starred, there can be little doubt that they are now feeling the economic pinch very painfully. Riots have lately become frequent, and the newspapers are full of complaints about the high prices of the necessaries of life. The Amsterdam Telegraph" declares that the recent demonstrations in Germany were more serious than was at first revealed. Several thousand demonstrations, mostly women, marched to the Imperial Chancellor's residence, and smashed the windows with stones. A mob chased some officers from a neighbouring cafe, the women shouting, "Our men are at the [?]ent; that also is your place." Police, with drawn swords, dispersed the rioters. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
