THE Commercial Travellers' Richmond and Tweed District Patriotic Carnival, held at Lismore on Empire Day, was an unqualified success. Over 5000 people arrived by train, and when the procession moved off there were at least 25,000 spectators in the streets. The pageant, which was two miles long, was wonderfully fine, the tableaux including representations of warships of every kind, historical groups, and many amusing subjects. A dozen bands supplied stirring music. An excellent programme of sports was carried out on the showground, and at night there was a continental, in connection with which there was a magnificent display of fireworks. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
