If a gardeners' vote for the four most popular flowers were taken, the order would probably be:—Roses, dahlias, carnations, and sweet peas. Many voters would give the dahlia first place, and if some clever hybridist could only give us a dahlia with a La France or a Cassida carnation perfume the dahlia would deserve premier position.
