  2. Wiley Post Equipped for the Stratosphere

    Wiley Post, the famous American airman, has recently been engaged in an endeavour to break the aeroplane altitude record. In December last he succeeded by ascending to a height of 48,000 feet.—or about 650 feet higher than the previous record, held by the Italian airman Lieutenant Renato Donati.
