Australia is proud of its forests. This picture, taken at Briggs Vale, on the new North Coast railway line between Gleureagh and Dorrigo, gives a splendid idea of the grandeur of the big timber country of New South Wales. Many of the primeval forests have disappeared, but along the coastal ranges there are still occasional belts of de[?]e scrub. The land that ca[?]e this wonderful timber wealth is invariably rich, and the problem of clearing it for settlement is a very big one.
