Bathurst is a beautiful city. In the olden days, before the railway swept past, it was a picturesque centreāa homely "port of call" for travellers going westward. Those of our pioneers who had holdings in the far west made it their headquarters. The stately old homes around the "City of the Plains" show this. These homes are built on the hills, and around them have grown fine old gardens that give the countryside a charm and an "atmosphere." The spirit that prompted this private enterprise is reflected in Bathurst itself. It can rightly claim that its citizens have a full appreciation of the beauty and richness of their heritage. ...
