The annual report of the New South Wales Forestry Commission is quite different from all previous reports. In the past the hampering nature of political control has always been reflected in the work of the department and in the records of its progress. Now that control is wholly in the hands of an independent commission, more enthusiasm and better results are shown in every direction. As a rule departmental reports are published about twelve months after the completion of the period dealt with.
