These photographs Were taken on the return of the cruiser Vindictive to her home port after the great attack from the sea on Zeebrugge and Ostend on April 21, when several obsolete cruisers filled with cement were used as blockships. It will he remembered that in the magnificent enterprise the Vindictive, working with two auxiliary craft —Mersey ferry boats—carried the storming and demolition parties to rush the head of the mole at Zeebrugge. She Was subjected to tremendous shell fire from the enemy's batteries, and, as our pictures show, her upper works were converted into a mass of twisted metal.
