The well here illustrated is a hole in solid granite. Any quantity of water can be dipped from this source, yet the water never gets below its original level. It is situated on the side of a hill, and about 50ft below it there is a creek. The hole was not generally known until fairly recently, but is new marked on survey maps. The waters of the Einasteigh River rose to a height of 20ft on three successive occasions during the rains in December, January, and February last, and flooded a vast area of country.
