The Chief Commissioner in London of the Australian Comforts Fund (of which the Citizens' War Chest Fund is the New South Wales Division), in a list of the requirements for France and Flanders for the coming winter, emphasises the imperative need for one-third of a million pairs of hand-knitted socles from Australia. Of this large number the War Chest is expected to contribute at least 150,000 pans. These must be shipped early in July, and it is essential, therefore, that the fund should have them by the end of June.
