    A great number of the younger women of Britain are now at work on the farms. A writer in the "Daily Chronicle" says : — "The farmers at least believe that the women really mean what they say when they announce their intention of taking the place of the men on the farms. The girls are now even allowed to cart manure, which for long was a stumbling block. Men and women work together in the hayfields and harvest fields, in the stables and cowsheds, on the manure dumps and turnip fields. Laughter, song, and strenuous work can go together, and the former often helps one to forget that the latter is hard. It seems to the writer that a memo ... [ILLUSTRATED]
