  8. THE FRENCH BARQUE CASSARD—WRECKED AT THE FALKLAND ISLANDS.

    News reached Sydney last week that the fine French barque Cassard. laden with wheat from Sydney for Falmouth, has from wrecked at the Falkland Islands. The Cassard arrived here in ballast on March 22 last from Tocopillo to load on behalf of Messrs. W. and A. M'Arthur and Co., Ltd., for the United Kingdom, and was despatched on April 13 with 27,002 bags of wheat—equal to about 2500 tons. Messrs. W. and A. M'Arthur received a cablegram from the London office of the firm notifying the total loss of both the yesseland cargo, and the Sydney Marine Underwriters' and Salvage Association, Ltd., was advised that ...
