    This delightful picture is more like an illustration of the verdant, park-like sheep country of New England in a bountiful season than of the dry, open plains of Western Queensland; yet it was taken only last week on a station close to the New South Wales border. It illustrates most effectively what the tapping of the artesian basin means to the country of limited rainfall. This has been an exceptionally dry season out-back; yet the condition of these sheep and well-grown lambs would never betray the fact that they have had scarcely a bite of green stuff for many months.
