  2. FRENCH SAILORS AT LA PEROUSE

    On the last day of their stay in Sydney about 150 of the officers and sailors of the Jules Michelet and the Victor Hugo visited La Perouse at the invitation of the Government and Lieutenant-Commander Coiffic unveiled a brass plate, which, bearing a brief record of the visit, had been inserted into the plinth of to the creat French navigator. An exhibition of boomerang-throwing by aborigines from the settlement greatly impressed the sailors. Our photograph shows William Sims demonstrating his ability in this way. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
